Research Labs

BUILT ENVIRONMENT Laboratory

The Built Environment Laboratory serves research and educational activities in the subjects of surveying, documentation and planning of residential projects and upgrading of existing buildings and residential units. The aforementioned academic subjects are also partially included in the Department’s undergraduate courses. Aim of the Laboratory is to connect targeted applications in the design and management of the Built Environment with the use of existing equipment. The laboratory consists of experienced staff and possesses modern technological equipment (PC, printers, scanners and software), as well as access to the use of special machines of the Department, such as plotters and Scanner A0, audiovisual media 3D Scanner, 3D Printer, GPS station, geodetic stations etc.). The Laboratory also aims to highlight the importance of the built space, in socio-economic development and technological progress, through research, but also through solving practical problems. Additional emphasis is given on mapping and 3D visualization techniques. Indicative objects of the research activities, include without being limited to, the assistance in the maturation of specialized design studies of the Local Government Organizations and other bodies, consulting and publishing work in the fields of documentation and study of the existing building environment.
